Structured as a ritual, this work explores a sonic space inhabited by voices, a cello, and electronics. It draws on texts by mystics of different epochs, and original love poems. These writings move between the erotic and the spiritual, using sensorial language to approach experiences that lie beyond discursive meaning. Rather than illustrating these texts, the music treats them as material for investigation, questioning which elements of ancient writings can still act on us today and how they may be revived through a contemporary poetic and sonic practice. In this sense, these Madrigals address different questions central to contemporary composition: how to engage with historical material without nostalgia or quotation; how to integrate voice, text, and sensuality within new music; and how electronic technologies can function as agents of form and meaning.
