Synthetic and Responsive Ecologies
Descrizione del progetto

I am interested in the design potential of a synthetic, cyborg ecology, one that generates responsive infrastructures and environments. As a landscape architect pursuing academic research in the Louisiana Gulf Coast, my work has focused primarily on responsive technologies that develop a relationship between digital constructs (virtual and physical) and biological systems. This view of ecological systems, through the lens of responsive technologies, posits that the designer is responsible for the creation and implementation of processes that curate, nudge, and sculpt landscape. The historic architectural and infrastructural palimpsest of Rome affords an opportunity to advance this body of work through the application of responsive technologies to examine the relationship between ecology and urbanity. This examination focuses specifically on the water infrastructure of Rome, examining its historical evolution, analyzing the present conditions, and developing future projections.
