During my term as a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome, I plan to execute a series of sculptures that deal with metamorphosis and grotesquerie within a contemporary context. Seeing that interest in Italy for grotesque and metamorphic sculpture and decoration spans from pre-Ovid to post-Bernini, Rome will provide an ideal backdrop and visual research library for this project.
