Titolo del progetto
Cultures of Reuse in Decarbonizing the Historic Built Environment
Descrizione del progetto

The reuse of buildings and their architectural components constitutes an important dimension of climate action. Emergent policies and practices have historical antecedents, the interrogation of which affords insights into how heritage may play a critical role in the decarbonization of the built environment. This project seeks to examine how histories of reuse in the context of Rome, and Italy more broadly, intersect with and potentially inform contemporary policies related to energy transitions, circularity in the construction industry, and the retrofitting of existing and historic buildings and districts.
