2013 Tribute Dinner – New York
Each spring the American Academy in Rome pays tribute to a person or persons who have inspired the Academy’s mission and made a significant difference in the areas of artistic and intellectual endeavors. Join us Wednesday, April 17 for the annual American Academy in Rome Tribute Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
This year we celebrate visionary excellence: the ability to look at a project or entity and bring new ideas and life to it. Through their work, all of our honorees have made interdisciplinary collaboration a core principle. This year is especially important as we celebrate Adele Chatfield-Taylor, 1984 Fellow and president and CEO of our great institution. For twenty-five years Adele has devoted her life to the Academy. Under her leadership each of the eight buildings in Rome has been restored and renovated, the grounds are now among the most beautiful in the city, the Academy’s endowment has been increased five-fold, and its program and operations have been funded without a deficit. The Academy will honor Adele with its Medal of Excellence.
The Academy will also recognize the architecture firm of Diller Scofidio + Renfro with a Centennial Medal for Elizabeth Diller, Ricardo Scofidio, and Charles Renfro, principals of one of the world’s foremost design studios that is known for its integration of architecture, the visual arts, and the performing arts. Their most recent triumphs are the Lincoln Center complex, the redesign of Alice Tully Hall, the High Line, and the expansion of the Juilliard School, among many others.
Cocktails are at 7:00pm, and dinner begins promptly at 7:45pm.
The special Fellow and Affiliated tickets are limited to two tickets per Fellow or Affiliated Fellow. Due to limited seating, these tickets are now sold out.
Seating is limited; reservations are required. Please RSVP by Friday, April 12, 2013.
