“Questions as Tools in Art, Science and the Humanities” at Cooper Union
Questions as Tools in Art, Science and the Humanities is a documentary film produced by the American Academy in Rome that features interviews with a dozen fellows of the MacArthur Foundation and the Academy from across several domains of creativity. The documentary highlights their use and thinking around the instrumentalization of intellectual inquiry.
A panel discussion with AAR President Peter N. Miller, artist Mary Reid Kelley (2012 Fellow), MIT professor John Ochsendorf (2008 Fellow, former AAR Director), landscape architect Walter Hood (1997 Fellow, 2014 Resident), and Stanford physicist Hideo Mabuchi will follow the screening, which begins at 6:30pm. The American Academy will also host a gathering beforehand, in the reception space adjacent to the theater starting at 5:30pm.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is full. Please write to events [at] aarome.org (events[at]aarome[dot]org) to join the waitlist.
Additional public screenings will be held at Stanford University in California on November 6, 2024, and at the American Academy in Rome on January 27, 2025. Each event has the same format: a presentation of the shorter version of the film followed by a Q&A with invited speakers.
