Gianpaolo Battaglia
Gianpaolo Battaglia is the Manager of Residential Life at the American Academy in Rome and oversees Residential Life, Housekeeping, and Gate Reception. He joined the Academy in 2003 and has, for twenty years, been developing strengths in community building and campus life management with AAR Fellows, Residents, and Visiting Artists and Scholars.
Battaglia pursued a degree in medieval Latin and Romance literature and earned a master’s degree in linguistics and philology at La Sapienza, Università di Roma. He has studied historical linguistics and theory of architecture in Venetian Renaissance. He has also collaborated with international galleries and museums as a specialized translator and editor for publications on contemporary art. While opera is one of his preferred genres, he has also been a drummer for live and studio rock and roll productions for over two decades.
