Fellow Shoptalks are a forum in which Rome Prize winners, Italian Fellows, and Affiliated Fellows present their work to each other and to the public. Shoptalks are occasionally streamed live on Zoom and posted to the Academy’s YouTube channel.

At this seminar, seven experts with seven different visions, seven different relationships with the pines of Rome will discuss the future of the landscape and the shape of the city.

This talk will consider the distressing “first wave” of COVID-19 when Lombardy, Italy’s wealthiest region, surprised the world by becoming the global epicenter of the pandemic.

L’American Academy in Rome ospiterà presso la Villa Aurelia un concerto speciale dedicato ai Pini di Roma come riconoscimento della bellezza dai pini condivisa con la città, della forza simbolica rappresentata dalla loro presenza, dell’ombra e riparo che forniscono soprattutto d’estate con il caldo insopportabile.

Adam Yarinsky, 2024 William A. Bernoudy Architect in Residence, will deliver a lecture entitled “Art, Architecture and Place.”

The artist Mel Chin (2024 Resident) will select from a diverse body of actions and artworks from social practice, installations, paintings, sculptures to exquisitely crafted objects to respond to some of the investigations of Rome Prize Fellows and Residents.
