The third edition of our Talking Architecture series will feature Mario Gooden, 2024 William A. Bernoudy Architect in Residence at the American Academy in Rome, and Francesco Careri, cofounder of the architectural practice Stalker and associate professor of urban and architectural design at Roma Tre University.

Talking Architecture is a series of talks in collaboration with La Sapienza and Casa dell’Architettura dedicated to new orientations and outstanding achievements in contemporary American architecture. It is an opportunity to explore cross-sections of American architecture, from tradition to innovation, new materials and sustainability, territories and landscapes, and the social role of architecture in its surroundings. Inviting Italian Studios to dialogue with American architects, Talking Architecture provides the occasion to discuss theoretical approaches and applied research practices between the two countries. The series will participate further in advancing global contemporary debates around architecture, landscape, and design.

This series is addressed to a professional audience and provides professional credits. Lectures will be held in English.

Mario Gooden is a cultural practice architect and director of Mario Gooden Studio: Architecture + Design. Gooden’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Venice Architectural Biennale; Storefront for Art and Architecture; the National Building Museum in Washington, DC; and the Municipal Art Society of New York; among many other institutions. Gooden is also professor of professional practice at the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) of Columbia University, where he is also director of the Master of Architecture program and co-director of the Global Africa Lab (GAL).
