Artist Hosts Three Days of Art, Activism, Music, Literature, and Performance on April 25–27 in Celebration of Her Current Retrospective—
Carrie Mae Weems, FAAR 2006 will present a three-day performance-salon in conjunction with her exhibit Three Decades of Photography and Video at the Guggenheim. The event will include film, dance, music, theatre, and art by a range of performers, artists, and scholars. Daytime programs are free with museum admission; evening programs are ticketed. The Contemporary Jewish Museum presents Designing Home: Jews and Midcentury Modernism, the first major exhibition to explore the role of Jewish architects, designers, and patrons in the formation of a new American domestic landscape during the post WW II decades of the twentieth century. A full-color catalog with an essay by Albrecht accompanies the exhibition.

The Companion Guide to Rome by Andrew Norman, FAAR 2007
Performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as part of the MusicNow series
The program also includes a new composition by Chicago Symphony Orchestra Composer-in Residence, Mason Bates, FAAR 2004.
Andrew’s piece is composed in nine sections, each based on a well known church in Rome, which he studied during his Fellowship year. It was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music in 2012. The complete Companion Guide was premiered by the Scharoun Ensemble at Radialsystem V in Berlin on 30 May, 2010. Read his description and listen to it here.
