Concert Committee

Overview

We invite you to join us as a member of the Concert Committee for the 2024 Janet & Arthur Ross Rome Prize Ceremony on Thursday, April 25, 2024, taking place in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.

On April 21, 1924, George Gershwin made his Carnegie Hall debut with one of the first performances of Rhapsody in Blue at a fundraising concert to benefit the American Academy in Rome. One hundred years later, we pay tribute to this event and the evolution of music at the Academy with an adventurous concert curated by George Lewis (2010 Resident) and performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble, featuring works by Academy Fellows and a version of Rhapsody in Blue.

This special evening to announce the 2024 Rome Prize winners will help raise vital funds necessary to continue the Academy’s storied mission. Proceeds from the evening support AAR, which for 130 years has provided time and space for the world’s best thinkers, scholars, and artists to create and imagine the future. We will list contributors of $1,000 or more as members of the Concert Committee on our website and in the printed program.

We hope you will make a commitment to support the Academy at this concert. So that we may include your name on the event materials, we ask that you kindly confirm your participation. If you have any questions, please contact Eve Orenstein in Special Events at e.orenstein [at] aarome.org (e[dot]orenstein[at]aarome[dot]org) or 212-751-7200, ext. 352.
