Oxford University Press has published Urban Transformation in Ancient Molise: The Integration of Larinum into the Roman State by 2012 Fellow Elizabeth C. Robinson. The book, her first monograph, is based on the dissertation she researched during her two-year fellowship.

Mary Beard (2019 Resident) will establish a £80,000 fund to support two classics students from underrepresented groups at Cambridge University upon her retirement next year. The fund will cover the £10,000-a-year living costs of two undergraduates from a minority ethnic group and low-income background, and span the duration of a four-year degree.

The artist Tomaso De Luca (2017 Italian Fellow) has won the MAXXI Bulgari Prize 2020. His work A Week’s Notice, on view in the accompanying exhibition, was selected by the international jury for its subtle poetics, maturity, and ethical, social, and political involvement.

Catherine Bonesho (2018 Fellow) has received a 2021–22 academic year fellowship from the Frankel Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan related to the study of Diversity in Second Temple Judaism. During the fellowship, she will work on her second book project, “Kings, Queens, and Caesars: Gentile Rulers in Early Jewish Literature.”

On May 8 Filippo Perocco (2009 Italian Fellow) conducted the original version of Polifonica-Monodia-Ritimica (1951) by Luigi Nono at Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, where he is currently artist in residence. Tonight is the premiere of his commissioned composition Come canto, voce. And on May 18 he will perform a piece by Salvatore Sciarrino as an organist within a larger ensemble of musicians. These concerts are part of the larger program of a new festival devoted to contemporary music.

Germane Barnes, recipient of the 2021–22 Rome Prize in Architecture, has been named winner of the 2021 Wheelwright Prize, a grant from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design that supports investigative approaches to contemporary architecture, with an emphasis on globally minded research.

Sigrid Nunez (2001 Fellow) has reviewed Whereabouts by 2013 Resident Jhumpa Lahiri for the New York Review of Books. The novel is the first Lahiri has written in Italian and had translated into English.

Sanford Biggers (2018 Fellow) will show his highly anticipated monumental Oracle sculpture and other works across the Rockefeller Center campus in New York. This public art exhibition, a partnership between Rockefeller Center and the Art Production Fund, runs May 5–June 29, 2021.

Corinna Gosmaro (2020 Italian Fellow) was among sixteen artists to win an eleven-month residency at the Fiminco Foundation in Romainville, France. Her residency begins this September.

Ersela Kripa and Stephen Mueller (2011 Fellows) have won a 2021 Arts and Letters Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Kripa and Mueller are the founders of AGENCY, a collaborative interdisciplinary practice based in El Paso, Texas.
