How did Roman peasants live? Were they as poor as we have been lead to believe? This talk presents new work from Tuscany to address the architecture, diet and life ways of the poorest Romans.

Kimberly Bowes (2006 Fellow) is the director of the American Academy in Rome and associate professor in the Department of Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
