Milena Belloni - Cosmologies of Destinations: A New Reading of the Refugee "Crisis"

Building on a multisited ethnography of Eritrean migration conducted across Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Italy, the talk aims to provide a critical interpretation of the current refugeec“xrisis” in Europe. While analyzing migrants' imagination, widespread moralities and mobility practices, the talk suggests that a more realistic understanding of the contemporary scenario is possible only by overcoming the paradigms of crisis, emergency, and exception informing the current debate.

Milena Belloni is the Italian Fellow in modern and contemporary Italian studies at the American Academy in Rome.

The shoptalk will be held in English. You can watch this event at https://livestream.com/aarome.
