During my time in Rome, I researched frescoes and religious paintings related to law and governance. For a new feature film exploring different experiences of the criminal justice system, I am interested in the historic relationship between the monastery, monastic life, and how they were used as places of “sanctuary” before the prison became a place of penal punishment. During this time, I visited various historic sites and worked my own series of large-scale drawings.
