Lusitanian Amphora Workshop
In recent years, much work has been carried out on the typology, production centers, fabrics, and distribution of Lusitanian amphorae. The results of this research are not as well known outside Portugal and the Iberian Peninsula, however, as they deserve. Furthermore, Lusitanian amphorae are not always properly distinguished from typologically related containers from coastal southern Spain. This workshop, held in conjunction with the Academy’s Howard Comfort FAAR’29 Summer School in Roman Pottery, aims to improve the knowledge of these vessels within the community of archaeologists working in Italy. The morning will be dedicated to lectures and the afternoon to discussion and the examination of finds.
Papers will be given in English.
