The Metro Confronts the Past – New Work at San Giovanni
This half-day conference presents the results of new work in the area of San Giovanni. New geophysical examinations beneath the basilica have revealed important information about the pre-Christian neighborhood, while excavations for the new Metro C have unearthed the longue durée history of the neighborhood—up to and confronting the present.
Speakers include among others Rossella Rea and Paolo Liverani (see program).
Presentations will be given in Italian. The event is organized in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma and the British School at Rome.
