“Questions as Tools in Art, Science and the Humanities” at the American Academy
Questions as Tools in Art, Science and the Humanities is a documentary film produced by the American Academy in Rome that features interviews with a dozen fellows of the MacArthur Foundation and the Academy from across several domains of creativity. The documentary highlights their use and thinking around the instrumentalization of intellectual inquiry.
Questions as Tools was directed by Hideo Mabuchi, professor of applied physics at Stanford University, and Peter N. Miller, President of the American Academy in Rome. A screening of the shorter version of Questions as Tools will be followed by a Q&A with invited speakers from the film. Moderated by Academy President Peter N. Miller, the Q&A will feature participants to be announced.
Additional public screenings will be held at Stanford University in California on November 6, 2024, and at Cooper Union in New York on December 4, 2024. Each event has the same format: a presentation of the shorter version of the film followed by a Q&A with invited speakers.
This event is free and open to the public. Please register to attend in person (link forthcoming).
