Francesco Zorzi
Macula is a project about vision and perception, tracing the interconnections between the eyes and the brain. It provides a tactile and visual tour into the world of phantom visions and visual hallucinations bringing awareness to the phenomena of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS). The world of visual hallucination related to these pathologies is often feared and misrepresented; with Macula, Zorzi opens the subject up, triggering the development of healthy discourse around these sensitive social topics to inform and connect with visually impaired people in order to generate a greater understanding their difficulties and needs.
