Tenebroso/In between light and dark
Project description

Patrick Tighe received his masters in architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1994. His project Tenebroso is an investigation into the notion of “in between,” that which is neither black nor white. Through the lens of the architecture, music, literature, and painting of Rome circa 1600, Tighe will draw lines between the latent tensions of society and the art that resulted. These findings—cultural, political, sexual or socioeconomic—will be compared with the conditions of contemporary America. The result of these investigations will be an installation, showcasing two societies in very different social moments.
