A few January concerts that feature works by Academy composers

North Carolina Symphony will present Rhapsody in Blue as part of the 2014/15 Raleigh Classical Series. The concert will include performances of “Rusty Air in North Carolina,” by Mason Bates, FAAR 2004, and “Jamm on Toast” from Voices by Derek Bermel, FAAR 2002, along with a couple of well-known works by George Gershwin.

BOSTON
Sunday, 11 January, 3pm

The Boston Symphony Chamber Players will premiere the BSO-commissioned work, "Why Old Places Matter," for oboe, horn and piano by Eric Nathan, FAAR 2014. The performance will feature Principal Oboist John Ferrillo, Principal Hornist James Sommerville and pianist Randall Hodgkinson. More performances scheduled in 2015 are on his website.

Waltzing the Spheres; excerpts from "Holy the Firm"

Two works by James Primosch, AFAAR 1993 will be performed in Philadelphia in January. The Dolce Suono Ensemble will present the world premiere of “Badinerie Squared” at the Trinity Center for Urban Life. "Waltzing the Spheres"; excerpts from "Holy the Firm" will be presented by Penn Contemporary Music at Rose Recital Hall.

NOTUS:IU Contemporary Vocal Ensemble at Indiana University, will perform a program entitled Fire and Ice: Elemental Songs of Magic and Mystery that will include the world premiere of Hor che'l ciel e la terra by Claude Baker, RAAR 2009 and the little match girl passion by David Lang, FAAR 1991.
