A series of events at MAXXI to celebrate the book Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture by Robert Venturi (Fellow 1956, Resident 1967), which has been the source of a renewed interest in the role of architectural history, was widely inspired by Rome and, during the Seventies, generated the opening of many architectural university programs in Italy.
