Robyn Schiff è autrice di quattro raccolte di poesie, tra cui A Woman of Property (Penguin, 2016), finalista al Los Angeles Times Book Prize e nominato miglior libro dell’anno dal New Yorker e dal Chicago Tribune, e del volume Information Desk: An Epic, in uscita per Penguin ad agosto. Schiff è membro onorario della Phi Beta Kappa di Harvard, è coeditore di Canarium Books e ha insegnato in diverse università, tra cui l’Università dell’Iowa e l’Emory University. Nell’estate del 2023 entrerà a far parte del corpo docenti dell’Università di Chicago. È vincitrice dello Joseph Brodsky Rome Prize, dono del Drue Heinz Trust, presso l’American Academy in Rome.

Robyn Schiff will be reading poetry from her forthcoming volume, Information Desk: An Epic, an ambitious book-length poem set at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s information desk, where Schiff long ago held a staff position. Elaborately mapping an interconnected route in and out of the museum through history, material, and memory, Schiff leads us on an anguished soulquest and ecstatic intellectual query to confront the violent forces and spiritual longings that inform art. Frantically informative and deeply intimate, Information Desk: An Epic undertakes a hemorrhaging ekphrastic journey through artifice and the natural world.

Biography

Robyn Schiff is the author of four collections of poetry, including A Woman of Property (Penguin, 2016), which was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and named a best book of the year by the New Yorker and the Chicago Tribune. Her volume Information Desk: An Epic is forthcoming from Penguin in August 2023. Schiff is an honorary member of Phi Beta Kappa at Harvard University and a coeditor of Canarium Books, and has taught at several schools, including the University of Iowa and Emory University. Recipient of the 2022–23 Joseph Brodsky Rome Prize, a gift of the Drue Heinz Trust, Schiff will join the faculty of the University of Chicago in summer 2023.
