Project title
Welds and Quips in Subterranean Rome
Project description

The infrastructural retrofit of twentieth- and twenty-first-century Rome, along with new modes of inhabiting the city, are creating a series of urban anomalies and oddities that demand investigation. Found deep in the subterranean and along the urban floor, these situations juxtapose the ancient and contemporary city, reordering the physical systems and cultural narratives of Rome. I will decode and record these situations, speculate others, and construct a set of typologies that visualize these emerging urban narratives. These projects will culminate into a retroactive manual of urban typologies in the tradition of the design treatise.
