In psychology, the term alter is often used to designate the other sides of the personality. To the child, arriving at the idea of an alter is a significant step in the process of socialization. Later, interior “others” may emerge, even stronger than other aspects of the personality and more apparent in what is projected to the outside world. My work at the Academy will involve a series of drawings and paintings exploring these themes.
