Will Boast – It’s Just Emotion That’s Taken Me Over

Will Boast - It's Just Emotion That's Taken Me Over

Will Boast will discuss his new novel, which explores the physiology of emotion, the limits of empathy, and the complexities of intimacy. It riffs on the myth of Apollo and Daphne and draws on Boast’s response to Bernini’s sculpture of the same name. He will also discuss past and upcoming work, including a project based in Rome.

Boast is the recipient of the John Guare Writer’s Fund Rome Prize, a gift of Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman. He is a lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Chicago.
