The Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Steven Stucky, Resident and Trustee of the Academy, died of brain cancer on February 14, 2016, in Ithaca, New York. He was 66.
His life and career are described in an obituary published in the New York Times. His son, Matthew Stucky, wrote in a tribute to his father, “An epic traveller, he saw more corners of the world than most people could in 5 lives and made untold lifelong friends wherever he went.” Many of those friends are members of the Academy community.
